VPN Connected but No Internet on Windows 11: Fix Guide

Fix a VPN that says connected but has no internet on Windows 11 by checking the base network, server, DNS, proxy, firewall and adapters in the safest order.

QuickQ Guide

A “connected” VPN status only confirms that a tunnel was created; it does not prove that DNS, routing, the firewall and the underlying connection are all healthy. Use this ordered checklist to isolate the cause without jumping straight to a full network reset.

Step 1

Define the scope first

Disconnect QuickQ and open two unrelated websites. Reconnect, then test both a browser and another online app. If every device on the same Wi‑Fi is offline, start with the router or ISP. If only this PC fails, focus on Windows.

Write down the connection type, selected QuickQ server, time of failure and any recent Windows or security-software update. A precise symptom saves more time than changing several settings at once.

  • Offline even without the VPN: repair the base connection
  • Only fails with the VPN: check server, DNS and conflicts
  • One website fails: test site policy, cache or regional availability

Step 2

Try reversible fixes first

Exit QuickQ completely, reopen it and choose Auto-select or a nearby server. Reconnect Wi‑Fi or the Ethernet cable, testing after every change so you know which action mattered.

Verify Windows date, time and time zone. Incorrect system time can break certificate validation and appear as a browser or authentication problem.

  • Restart QuickQ
  • Change one server
  • Reconnect the local network
  • Restart the PC and router

Step 3

Check DNS and proxy settings

Open Command Prompt as administrator and run ipconfig /flushdns. This clears cached DNS answers without deleting personal files. Then open Settings → Network & internet → Proxy and disable a manual proxy you did not intentionally configure.

Avoid running another VPN, a browser proxy extension, an enterprise tunnel and a system proxy together. Competing network filters can take control of the default route or DNS.

  • Use only commands you understand
  • Do not paste unknown registry scripts
  • Ask IT before changing a managed PC

Step 4

Check firewall and virtual adapters

Temporarily pause recently installed third-party security software only long enough to compare results. If connectivity returns, add a proper QuickQ allow rule rather than leaving protection disabled.

In Advanced network settings, look for unused adapters left by removed VPN software. Do not delete an active physical adapter or QuickQ component. Capture a screenshot and contact support if ownership is unclear.

  • Update QuickQ and Windows
  • Remove unused networking tools
  • Keep active adapters and QuickQ components

Step 5

Use Network reset last

Microsoft treats Network reset as a final step because it removes and reinstalls adapters and may require VPN or virtual-switch setup again. Save Wi‑Fi credentials and close work before continuing.

After the reset, confirm ordinary internet access first, install the latest QuickQ client and test one server. If it still fails, send support your Windows build, QuickQ version, network type, failure time and completed steps—never your password.

  • Settings → Network & internet → Advanced network settings → Network reset
  • Test the base network before reinstalling QuickQ
Fast diagnosis

If the same account works on a phone but not on the PC, the account and service are probably available. Concentrate on Windows DNS, proxy, firewall and adapters.
